IMPD is mourning the loss of a veteran officer.

Officer Tim Day suffered a heart attack and passed away Wednesday.

“IMPD has lost another fine Officer that served our community and department admirably, in one of the most dangerous and decorated units within IMPD.  He will be missed by our department and this city,” said Chief Rick Hite. “Please continue to pray for our department’s strength as we deal with these challenging times.”

Officer Tim Day is a 26-year veteran of IMPD and was currently assigned to Violent Crimes Unit (VCU) where he was a valued and loyal member.  Funeral arraignments and more information about Officer Tim Day will be forthcoming in the coming days.
