While Indianapolis Fire Department Squad 10 was on their way back from a previous run, they spotted a residence fire that was engulfed in flames.

The house, in the 2700 block of Station Street had heavy smoke and flames when the crew pulled up.

Four probationary firefighters, just days out of recruit school, were the first in the door as veteran firefighters mentored them through their first real fire.

All four, who happened to be assigned to the same battalion, helped to attack the blaze.

Crews were able to get the fire under control in about 20 minutes.

No injuries reported but the home was heavily damaged.
