Investigators are still working to determine how IU freshman Abigail Bott died.

Bott, 18, was found unresponsive in her dorm room Sunday afternoon. University Police said she was discovered by a friend and residence hall staff.

The Clarendon Hill, Ill., teen lived in the McNutt Residence Center Delgado dorm.

The Monroe County coroner’s officer performed an autopsy Monday. Officials said no foul play was involved in her death but they are waiting on toxicology results.

“At this point in time, those are all items that we’re investigating and I’m really not at liberty to discuss it,” said Capt. Thomas Lee.

Students received an email to inform them of the death. Counseling services are being provided at the IU Health Center. Students can call CAPS at 812-855-5711.

Bott’s death is the second since the school year started. Rachael Fiege, 19, died after she fell down the stairs at a house party near campus.

“It’s terrible to know that we have not one but two students who have died within the first couple months of school. It’s absolutely devastating,” said Mary Katherine Rohaly, student.
