Multiple shootings reported around Indianapolis Tuesday night

INDIANAPOLIS – Police are investigating a series of shootings around the Indianapolis area Tuesday night.

The first shooting happened on the east side around 8:35 p.m. in the 9400 block of East 38th Street. The victim, who was shot multiple times, was taken to Wishard Hospital in critical condition, according to dispatchers. He was awake and breathing, police said.

A second shooting was reported by dispatchers near 25th and Hillside on the near north side around 8:41 p.m., but police didn’t find anyone there when they arrived, although they did come across several shell casings. Around 8:50 p.m., a man suffering from a gunshot wound showed up at IU Health Methodist Hospital, according to dispatchers. That man was taken to the emergency room in serious condition.

Another shooting was reported just before 8:49 p.m. in the 1800 block of North Dexter on the west side of Indianapolis. In that case, the victim was awake and breathing. Police found him lying in the street suffering from multiple gunshot wounds. The person was taken to Wishard Hospital.

The shootings all happened within about 25 minutes of each other.
