The Decatur and Wayne Township fire departments will hold a smoke alarm blitz next week.
Crews will be handing out 2,400 free smoke detectors to residents in the Mars Hill Section of Indianapolis.
Firefighters will go door-to-door to hand out and install the alarms.
The blitz will run Oct. 21-24 from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. It was made possible by a FEMA grant.
