KNOX COUNTY – The tour bus of country music star Jason Aldean hit and killed a pedestrian early Monday morning in southwestern Indiana.

According to the Knox County Sheriff’s Department, investigators were called to the scene on U.S. 41 North just north of Vincennes. Police said a “pedestrian had walked out in the middle of the roadway and had been struck” by Aldean’s tour bus around 1:30 a.m.

The coroner pronounced the man dead from “trauma to the head and chest.” The victim was identified as Albert Kennedy of Vincennes.

Aldean, three-time Grammy nominee and multiple CMA Award winner, was aboard the bus, investigators said.

He took to social media Monday afternoon in response to the crash:

“With a heavy heart, I’m sad to say that a man passed away last night after stepping out in front of my bus in Indiana. In all the years I’ve been touring and all the miles we’ve driven, nothing prepares you for something like this to happen. I’m praying for Albert Kennedy’s family and friends today and ask that you do the same.”

The accident remains under investigation.
