Police seek IUPUI library theft suspect

INDIANAPOLIS (October 31, 2013) – The Indiana University Police Department at IUPUI needs help identifying a man caught on camera stealing from the main library.

The crime happened Tuesday, Oct. 22, in the second-floor reference area across from the Circulation Desk at around 11 a.m. The library is located at 755 W. Michigan St.

The victim said she left her backpack under her sweater on a study table. A few minutes later, she returned to find her backpack had been stolen. A witness at a nearby table said he saw a man take the backpack and walk away.

Surveillance cameras captured images of the man, who was about 5’9” with a medium build. He carried a turquoise tote bag.
