INDIANAPOLIS (Nov. 7, 2013) – Detectives made an arrest in connection with a fatal shooting Wednesday night.

Indianapolis Metropolitan police detectives arrested 47-year-old Wilbur Martin on a preliminary charge of murder. He’s accused of shooting and killing 29-year-old Justin Cole.

According to investigators, Martin shot Cole in the 3600 block of Lesley Avenue Wednesday night. Cole then tried to drive himself to the hospital but crashed near I-70 and Emerson Avenue. Police said Cole was suffering from multiple gunshot wounds.

He went to IU Health Methodist Hospital in serious condition and later died in surgery.

Martin was found inside a home on Lesley Avenue. He was taken into custody without incident. IMPD said only that a “disturbance” led to the shooting.
