You don’t have to wait for Friday to get Black Friday deals anymore. More and more stores are opening on Thanksgiving to offer shoppers great deals.

Some bargain hunters are mapping out their strategies to make sure they get everything on their list.

The TVs are staged, sound systems are stacked at Best Buy. The floor, or “race track”, as they call it, are clear. The retail chain will open at 6 p.m. Thursday.

“We go through what’s called a dry-run,” said Mike Piotrowski, Best Buy General Manager at the Westfield store. “We actually create a situation with a lot of people in the store and throw scenarios at them.”

As employees put in the final touches, Joe Engle came by the store to scope out the speakers he wants. He plans to camp out Thanksgiving night.

“I want to make sure I’m getting in line for what I want,” said Engle. “I definitely think it’s worth it if it means getting speakers for half the price.”

Over at the Super Target on 106th and Michigan, more than 400 team members and seasonal workers are gearing up for a sales floor makeover.

“It’s a complete overhaul just for 48 hours,” said Matt Palmiere, Target’s Executive Team Leader of Guest Experience. “We’re pushing back our clothing racks, getting the big door-buster deals out of the flood pad.”
