INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. (Nov. 27, 2013)– The Indiana Secretary of State is collecting gently used coats and clothing for men and women to be donated to The PourHouse and the Julian Center.

Secretary Connie Lawson will begin collecting clothing between December 2 and December 13. She calls everyone to donate any gently used outerwear and clothing for people of all ages.

“It is my hope that Hoosiers will open their hearts and contribute to those in need this holiday season,” said Secretary Lawson. “Organizations such as The PourHouse and the Julian Center are crucial in providing resources to those in need, especially during our coldest months.”

All contributions for men will go to The PourHouse of Indianapolis, which is an organization focused on homelessness in Indianapolis. Particular needs are socks, hats, gloves, sweatshirts and XL or larger winter coats.

All other contributions will be sent to Julian Center to aid victims of domestic violence, sexual assault and other life crisis. At the Julian Center, the contributions will be placed into a “shop” where mothers and their children can go and shop for one another so that on Christmas they can each receive different gifts.

Contributions can be made at the Secretary of State’s office during the weeks of December 2-6 and December 9-13 from 8:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Collection bins will be located outside the Secretary’s office and the Business Services Division in Government Center South. The Secretary of State’s Office is located in Room 201 of the State House.
