INDIANAPOLIS (Dec. 13, 2013) – Indiana Department of Transportation road crews will start rotating shifts ahead of the predicted snowfall that resulted in a Winter Storm Warning for central Indiana.

The forecast shows snow beginning Friday night and continuing through Saturday afternoon. Projections are varied, but some areas could receive up to seven inches of snow, according to the National Weather Service.

INDOT crews will begin plowing and treating interstates, U.S. highways and state routes as snow begins. A second shift of drivers will take over at midnight and work until noon Saturday. INDOT will continue with 12-hour shifts as needed.

INDOT urges drivers to learn about driving conditions before leaving. You can learn current road conditions by visiting the TrafficWise website, calling 800-261-ROAD (7623) for INDOT’s TrafficWise Traveler Information Service, or following INDOT on Facebook and Twitter.
