Two arrested after suspicious fire leads state police to meth lab

MUNCIE (Dec. 17, 2013) – A suspicious fire led state police to a meth lab in Muncie.

Muncie police and fire departments responded Monday afternoon to a fire and called on the Pendleton District Meth Suppression Squad to help investigate. The fire broke out around 4:15 p.m. at an apartment building in the 500 block of Liberty Street.

Neighbors reported hearing a loud “pop” before smelling a foul odor. Investigators found the person who lived in the apartment, Brandy Williams, 32, a couple blocks away. As they were arresting her, state troopers were approached by a man named Brad Miller, who was wanted on a warrant for theft and for a probation violation. Troopers also said he was in possession of morphine.

Williams was taken to the Delaware County Jail on charges of manufacturing methamphetamine (Class B felony) and maintaining a common nuisance (Class D felony). Miller, 29, was taken to jail on the warrant in addition to charges of possession of a narcotic drug (Class D felony), possession of paraphernalia (Class A misdemeanor) and false informing (Class A misdemeanor).
