INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. (Dec. 18, 2013) — Missed the Mega Millions jackpot?

Then, like the rest of us, you may need to pinch some pennies this winter to make the most of your holiday shopping.

If that’s the case, Free Shipping Day could be for you.

Started in 2008, organizers have attracted thousands of retailers to make a relatively simple promise to consumers for one day.  The retailers pledge to ship any purchase free, without a minimum charge, and guarantee delivery by Christmas Eve.

Today, Dec. 18, is this year’s Free Shipping Day and, at last count, 930 stores are taking part.

To save money and get free shipping, all you need to do is visit freeshippingday.com, scroll until you find the retailer you’re looking for and click to connect to their website.  Some of the retailers require you to use the listed code at checkout, but not all of them do.

Some of the stores participating this year include The Children’s Place, Bass Pro Shops, RadioShack, REI, Harry & David, Lord & Taylor, Overstock.com, JCPenney, Bloomingdale’s, PetSmart, Godiva, The North Face, Carson’s and many more.

According to the website, Free Shipping Day accounted for more than $1 billion in sales during the past two years, leading it to become the third-heaviest day for online shopping in the United States.
