INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. (December 19, 2013) – Two people were shot and one killed on the northwest side Thursday night.

Police were dispatched to the scene around 11 p.m. in the 2800 block of N. Harding St. in reference to a property damage accident and person shot.

When officers arrived, they found two people in a gold Impala.

An unresponsive male with a gunshot wound occupied the driver’s seat.  He was pronounced dead at the scene. Police identified him as 21-year-old Tyler Webster of Indianapolis.

Moments later, officers received another call of a person shot just two blocks from the first scene. EMS crews arrived and transported a second male victim to Eskenazi Health in serious condition with multiple gunshot wounds. Police identified the second man as 19-year-old Kyle Lewis of Indianapolis. Police said Lewis was shot in the area of 28th and Harding Street and tried to seek refuge at a home, knocking on the door and telling a resident that he’d been shot. The resident refused to let him inside but called police.

Witnesses said a gunfight ensued near the intersection of Harding Street and Udell St. prior to the 911 calls.

The suspect fired shots at the vehicle that was occupied by the deceased and a passenger. The passenger of the Impala was transported to Homicide for questioning.

Detectives believe that the two incidents are related and not likely a random act.

The Indianapolis-Marion County Forensic Services Agency and The Marion County Coroner’s Office have arrived to help with the processing of the crime scene.
