Man shot after trying to rob Brink’s guard

INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. (December 22, 2013) — Officials are reporting a man was shot Sunday afternoon after he tried to rob a Brink’s guard.

Police say the driver of the truck was coming out of the Wal-Mart in the 7200 block of U.S. 31, when he felt a hand on his shoulder.

The driver turned around and was pepper sprayed in the face by the suspect.

The driver thought the suspect was trying to take the bags from him, so he shot the suspect in the stomach. Police say the suspect was wearing body armor.

The suspect attempted to flee on foot but was caught by a citizen, and off-duty police officer a short distance away.

The suspect was conscious when paramedics got to the scene and was taken to the hospital.

Police not releasing the name of the suspect at this point and are still investigating the incident.
