DAVIESS COUNTY, Ind. (December 29, 2013) — Indiana Conservation Officers are investigating the disappearance of a Des Plaines, Ill. woman.

Kathryn McGill, 31, was a passenger in a vehicle being driven by her husband Adam McGill, 35, when their vehicle was swept off the roadway in flood waters on highway 257 near the Pike and Daviess County line.

Just before 8 a.m. on Sunday, hunters watched a vehicle headed south on Highway 257 trying to navigate flood waters. After seeing the vehicle get swept off the roadway they drove their boat to the area the vehicle was last seen.

The hunters heard screams for help and were able to rescue Adam McGill but were unable to locate Kathryn.

Adam was taken to Daviess County Community Hospital and later transported to St. Mary’s Hospital in Evansville for treatment of hypothermia.

Search efforts went on Sunday until dusk to try to find Kathryn McGill but were unsuccessful. Searchers will resume Monday morning.

Conservation officers strongly encourage obeying road closing signs and to avoid driving through flooded roadways.
