Inmate found dead at federal prison in Terre Haute

TERRE HAUTE (Dec. 30, 2013) – An inmate died at the United States Penitentiary in Terre Haute, and the case is being investigated as a homicide.

Thomas Sim, 54, was found unresponsive in his cell on Thursday, Dec. 26. The FBI has been notified and the investigation into Sim’s death is ongoing. The U.S. Department of Justice characterized his death as an “apparent homicide.”

Sim was serving 234 months in a bank robbery case and was sentenced in the U.S. District of Colorado. He’d been in custody at the Federal Correctional Complex in Terre Haute since June 24, 2013.
