Indianapolis, IND. (Jan. 3, 2013) – Firefighters from Lawrence and Indianapolis faced subzero temperatures Friday morning as they fought flames in an apartment near 42nd Street and Mitthoeffer Road.

No one was inside the unit at the Carriage House Apartments when the fire broke out. Neighbors in the same building noticed the smoke. Everyone got out okay.

The temperature was two degrees below zero at the time of the fire. Fortunately, hydrants and lines didn’t freeze but one hydrant was hard to open.

The cause of the fire is under investigation.
