INDIANAPOLIS (Jan. 8, 2014) – Indianapolis Fire Department crews needed about 15 minutes to get a house fire under control Wednesday morning.

The fire started around 10:15 a.m. at a home in the 4100 block of Dequincy Street. Firefighters saw smoke as soon as they arrived and started attacking the fire from inside the home.

The homeowner’s son told IFD that the power had been off in the neighborhood and came back on Tuesday night. Indianapolis Power & Light crews had been working in the area and arrived quickly to stop electricity at the house.

No one was hurt, and IFD estimated the damage at about $50,000. The cause is under investigation.
