Man arrested, vehicle found after hit-and-run crash on northwest side

INDIANAPOLIS (Jan. 10, 2014) – Indianapolis Metropolitan police have a person in custody and located the vehicle thought to be involved in a hit-and-run crash that critically injured a man Friday morning on the northwest side.

IMPD confirms that Melesio Felix-Francisco, 47, of Indianapolis has been arrested.

The vehicle was located at a repair shop, according to police. It was a Plymouth Voyager minivan. Police say tips helped them locate the suspect and vehicle.

IMPD said a person was hit near an apartment complex called Estates at Crystal Bay, and the injuries are described as serious. The victim, a man in his 50s or 60s, was not breathing when witnesses found him. They performed CPR to get him breathing again. The man was in critical condition.

Police said the vehicle was going east and the man was either walking along the street or crossing to the bike lane when he was hit.

“So it’s important that you stop, if you’re involved in an accident stop cause you have now augmented the charges, you’ve left the scene on an accident, you’ve cause serious bodily injury and in addition to that you are doing things that are indicative of you hiding something,” said Officer Chris Wilburn.
