INDIANAPOLIS – It’s been too long for Greg Graham to not see the black and gold in the final game of the Marion County Tournament.

“We haven’t been back to the championship game in about five years,” said the Warren Central head coach remembered on Friday night.

That finally changed a few minutes prior to Graham’s interview when the Warriors held off a late charge by Franklin Central to win their Marion County Semifinal game 48-47 at Southport Fieldhouse.

It puts Warren Central into the championship game and a shot for their first title since 2000.

“We’ve had a heck of a tournament, especially playing close games like this, they’re very intense,” said Graham. “Our guys played well, we defended when we had to and that’s the most important thing, we’ve moving on.”

The did so thanks to Jaraan Lands’ 21 points-including the eventual game-winning free throws in the final minute. Franklin Central had a chance to win the game but Antoyne Jackson’s attempt at the buzzer fell short, sending Warren Central to the title game.

On Saturday they will host defending champion Park Tudor, who got another impressive show from Trevon Bluiett in their semifinal game against North Central. The future Xavier guard scored a game-high 42 points as the Panthers won 94-80 to advance to the championship game for a second straight season.

Tipoff at Warren Central is set for 7 PM.
