LAKE COUNTY – An Indiana woman was hurt Tuesday morning when she lost control of her car on I-65 in northwest Indiana and went airborne into some trees.

Around 7:58 a.m. Tuesday, the 2008 Mazda was going northbound when the driver lost control, hit a ditch, and went into the air. It happened at mile marker 245 (about two miles south of the Crown Point exit). Indiana State Police said the road was dry and it wasn’t snowing at the time.

The driver, 44-year-old Bridget Birzek of Demotte, was wearing her seatbelt. She went to Saint Anthony’s Hospital in Crown Point with non-life threatening injuries.

Police said the car was a total loss.
