Detectives arrest Indianapolis teen on murder charge

INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. (Jan. 24, 2014)– Detectives from the Indianapolis Metropolitan Police Department’s (IMPD) Violent Crimes Unit (VCU) arrested a minor in connection with a murder that happened earlier this month.

Arrested is Avis Lacy, 16,  of Indianapolis, on an outstanding warrant formally charging him for the murder of Ray Ivory, 34, also of Indianapolis.

Ivory was shot on January 14 in the 1500 block of Cumberland Rd.  The victim was brought to the 2100 block of Mitthoefer where police and EMS were called.  The victim was transported by EMS crews to IU Health Methodist Hospital in critical condition.

He died the following day.

An arrest warrant was granted for the suspect, formally charging him with: murder, robbery, use of firearm by a serious violent felon and carrying a handgun without a license.

VCU Detectives found and arrested Avis Lacy and arrested him without incident.  The suspect was then transported to Arrestee Processing Center where he is being held without bond.

Detectives believe the motive was robbery.  The suspect is being charged as an adult; therefore his name and booking photo are being made available.
