Two escape from burning east side home

INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. (Jan. 31, 2014)– Two people escaped serious injury in a house fire Friday night.

Firefighters were called to the home at 2515 North Gale Street on the east side of Indianapolis at about 7:20 p.m.  When they arrived on the scene, heavy flames were showing.

Two people were in the home at the time of the fire.  One escaped the blaze on their own, and IFD rescued the other.  Both were being checked out by EMS crews at the scene.

IFD says the fire started near the water heater and spread quickly through the structure.
