One dead, one injured after shooting on the east side

INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. (Feb. 12, 2014)– Police say two people were shot on the east side Wednesday night, one later died in the hospital.

Indianapolis Metropolitan Police Department (IMPD) officers were dispatched to the 2600 block of Brookside Avenue on person shot run just before 9:30 p.m. Wednesday.  When officers arrived, they found several shell casings in the middle of the street.  Minutes later, officers were alerted that two individuals had walked into Community East Hospital emergency room suffering from apparent gunshot wounds.

One of the males was listed in critical condition and was later pronounced dead at the hospital, and the other male is listed in good condition.

Homicide detectives are canvassing the area for possible witnesses and the Indianapolis-Marion County Forensic Services Agency is processing the crime scene.  The Marion County Coroner’s Office will determine a cause and manner of death after an autopsy is completed.
