The person who lives at the home in the 6600 block of Echo Lane did escape the flames okay, and so did his dog. Indianapolis Fire crews battled the blaze that at one point, could be seen for blocks.

The fire appears to have started in the garage. Flames damaged the home and a van parked in the driveway.
