INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. (March 2, 2014) — A teen stole her parents car overnight, took it out for a spin and ended up running for her life.
Police say the 15-year-old scraped up several vehicles as she drove by near 11th Street and LaSalle around 1:30 a.m. Neighbors heard the noise and came outside. One of those people had a gun and began shooting at the girl’s car. The neighbor fired off two shots as the teen stepped on the gas, speeding away. She blew through an intersection right up the street at 9th and LaSalle, smashing into a fire hydrant.
Police were already in the neighborhood and saw the crash. The girl was taken into custody and transported to the Juvenile Detention Center.
Police are trying to figure out who fired the shots, but say witnesses aren’t cooperating. No one was injured.
