Manning passes mandatory neck exam, cleared for next season

DENVER (March 3, 2014) – Peyton’s ready for some football.

The Denver Broncos quarterback passed a mandatory neck exam Monday and is cleared to play during the 2014-2015 season, according to the NFL Network.

Manning’s contract required him to undergo the neck exam to make sure there’s nothing wrong with his surgically repaired neck. The former Colts quarterback has had four neck procedures including the spinal fusion that forced him to miss his final season with the Colts. He won his fifth NFL MVP award this season and broke the league’s single-season marks for TD passes and passing yards while leading the Broncos to the Super Bowl.

The NFL’s Ian Rapoport tweeted that Manning’s neck exam “went fine.” Manning maintained during Super Bowl week that he planned to return to the Broncos. He had previously passed a standard physical shortly after Denver lost to the Seattle Seahawks in the Super Bowl.
