Fire department, police investigating manhole smoke downtown

INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. (March 14, 2014)– The Indianapolis Fire Department and police are investigating why at least two manhole covers were reportedly blown off the road Friday night.

As police and firefighters work to investigate the smoke coming out of manholes near E. Market St., traffic has been diverted. Expect delays if you are traveling downtown.

The incident was reported just before 8:30 p.m. Friday night, and no injuries have been reported.
