INDIANAPOLIS – The Colts negotiating team received an A+ on Friday afternoon.

Looking perhaps to visit other teams, former Giants receiver Hakeem Nicks only needed to come to the team’s 56th Street complex to feel like he was home.

The team confirmed on Friday night that they have signed Nicks to a one-year contract on Friday. The news was first reported by ESPN NFL reporter Adam Schefter.

A five-year veteran out of North Carolina, Nicks has 311 career receptions for 4,622 yards and 27 touchdowns with Giants. Nicks’ best season to date was 2010, when he had career highs in catches (79) and touchdowns (11) while also gaining 1,052 yards. He had a career best in yardage the next year when he gained 1,192 yards in helping the Giants to the Super Bowl title.

In 2013 Nicks caught 56 passes for 896 yards in 15 games.

Nicks will come into training camp as a starter at the receiver position alongside veteran Reggie Wayne and third-year player T.Y. Hilton.
