SPRING PUT ON HOLD
Chilly temperatures linger and 4 days into spring it still feels like winter. It will soon look like winter as well, snow showers arrive here early Tuesday. Snowfall amounts should be light and will vary under the locally heavier bursts of snow – especially Tuesday morning through early afternoon – limited to a coating or a few tenths of an inch however timing snow into the city looks to arrive for the AM commute. A few slick spots could be possible.
24 days into the month and the average temperature of 35.2° places this March as the 12th coldest to date on record. Early Monday morning low temperatures dipped into the teens this Monday morning – coldest in a week. Some early morning low temps included 16° at New Castle, Tipton, Hartford City and 15° at Marion.
62% of the days so far this month have been below normal and the stretch of consecutive months below normal reaches 6. Early Wednesday morning low temperatures could push into well into the lower teens – possibly coldest in nearly 2 weeks.
WAITING ON WARMER AIR
A warm front is on the way! Unfortunately this front will bring rainfall and even a few thunderstorms Thursday. Temperatures will recover to the upper 40s late Thursday with rain expected here as early as sunrise Thursday morning. For several consecutive weekends we start mild and end the weekend cold, but a change in the works for this upcoming weekend. Warmer air is forecast to arrive late in the weekend – possibly making this Sunday the warmest since tornadoes touched down in mid November 18 weeks ago. The warmest Sunday of the year is forecast this Sunday – reaching the middle 60s for the first time on a Sunday in 2014!
