Hancock County man dies after being found in pond

HANCOCK COUNTY (April 1, 2014) – A Hancock County man died Monday night after relatives found him in a pond.

Zachary Wood, 22, was found in a body of water near New Palestine. According to the Hancock County Sheriff’s Department, Wood had left around 6 p.m. to go fishing. He never came back, and his father found him in the water around 10 p.m.

He was taken to Hancock Regional Hospital, where he later died.

The Indiana Department of Natural Resources is investigating the case. Police don’t suspect foul play.
