SALT LAKE CITY (April 2, 2014) – A burglary suspect played dead after officers showed up to catch him, police say.

According to Salt Lake police, the man broke into a warehouse early Tuesday morning and climbed several stories to elude police. Officers found him lying on a beam 20 or 30 feet in the air.

Investigators initially thought he’d been electrocuted—the man was surrounded by wires and wouldn’t respond to commands.

“(He) certainly didn`t want to talk to us, didn’t want to visit with us, doesn’t want to even respond to us when we ask, ‘Hey, are you OK?’ So we didn’t know,” said Lt. Scott White of the Salt Lake police. “So we think he’s injured and come to find out…he just doesn’t want to talk to us.”

After being checked by medics, the man was taken into custody for questioning. He was charged with burglary and trespassing.
