(April 2, 2014) – Jim Zetz knows that, in all likelihood, he won’t be around to see his daughter’s wedding day.
The 62-year-old California man is terminally ill with stage four pancreatic cancer.
But thanks to a photographer, Zetz got the chance to walk his 11-year-old daughter Josie down the aisle. Photographer Lindsey Natzic Villatoro met them while taking a family portrait. She was so inspired by the family that she wanted to do something for them.
She gathered donations and called upon volunteers to put together a special event for Josie’s 11th birthday–a miniature wedding so the dying dad could walk his daughter down the “aisle” in the family’s backyard.
Friends helped Josie with her makeup and hair. She wore a lacy white dress and carried a bouquet for the special moment. A pastor pronounced them “daddy and daughter.”
The entire gathering was planned in just 72 hours and paid for with donations from the community.
