Man killed after shooting on near northeast side

INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. (April 28, 2014)— Indianapolis police are investigating a fatal shooting on the city’s near northeast side Monday.

Officers responded to the shooting at 38th Street and Sherman Drive at The Villages at Mill Crossing just after 4 p.m. after receiving several 911 calls of shots being fired.

Officers arrived at the scene in the 3500 block of Blue Spruce Lane  were they located an adult male with an apparent gunshot wound to the leg. EMS personnel arrived and transported the victim to Eskenazi Hospital in critical condition. A short time, while at the hospital, the victim was pronounced dead.

The victim is Nathan Williams, 19, of Indianapolis.
