Upper low continues to be the main player in our weather pattern for the final day Friday. That means we will see our share of clouds and cooler weather once again. Thursday hit a high of 54 degrees, which is nearly 15 degrees below the thirty year seasonal average of 68.
Highs today will be warmer with us at 60 degrees. Most of the day will be spent in the upper 50s. Cloud cover will remain in place and don’t be surprised if you see a sprinkle here or there during the day. Rain chances tick up just a little bit overnight (especially for northern counties) as a warm front slides through the state. Light sprinkles to maybe a light rain shower will be possible as the mini is going on Saturday morning, when lows will fall just below 50 degrees. This mixed with clouds to start should make for comfortable running weather and some fast times. Good luck, Zach Myers!
The weekend will be warmer with the warmer air moving in behind the warm front. Saturday highs will be near 70 degrees with highs on Sunday in the mid- to upper-60s. There will be a small chance for rain on Sunday and a slightly better chance for rain on Monday, but at this point it looks like rain chances will remain relatively low.
Warmer air will continue to surge in as a gulf ridge of high pressure develops to our south and our winds shift out of the southwest. We will see warm air advection (the movement of warmer air) continuing into the area from Monday through Thursday, and that means that temperatures will slowly be ticking up. We will go from highs near 70 on Monday to highs likely topping 80 degrees on Thursday! This setup will also likely mean heavy rain (something we mentioned as a possibility in yesterday’s blog) will be possible next weekend. Numbers are still coming in, but the setup is there for in excess of two inches of rain. Enjoy today and the weekend and good luck to all those running the Mini!
