Boy, 11, dies after motorcycle collides with ATV near Columbus

COLUMBUS, Ind. (May 8, 2014)– An 11-year old in Bartholomew County has died after an accident involving an ATV and a motorcycle.

A man was riding his motorcycle near CR 200 W., just south of CR 100 N. when he crashed into the boy’s ATV just after 6:30 p.m.  The boy was pronounced dead at the scene.

Bartholomew Consolidated School Corporation officials confirmed the boy’s name is Camerion Briot.

Investigators say Briot was not wearing a helmet when he came out of a field onto the roadway and was struck by the motorcyclist.

The accident happened right by where the boy’s family lives.  Briot’s mother and a sibling were outside and nearby when it happened.

The motorcyclist, 45-year-old Brian Snyder, was airlifted to IU Health Methodist Hospital.  As of early Friday morning, Snyder was listed in critical condition.

Briot was a 5th grade student at Southside Elementary.  School officials told FOX59 News that counselors are on hand Friday to help grieving students cope with the loss of their classmate and friend.
