TUPELO, Miss. (May 8, 2014) – Ever wondered what it looks like when a tornado hits?

A surveillance camera captured dramatic footage on April 28 as a tornado swept through Mississippi. The camera was mounted outside St. Luke United Methodist Church in Tupelo.

The clip begins in daylight, but conditions quickly deteriorate. The footage really picks up around 1:48, when winds grow strong and scatter debris around the playground.

The tornado was an EF-3 with winds of up to 150 mph.

There were no deaths in Tupelo from the tornado, but severe weather killed 35 people and injured more than 200 during a four-day span between April 27 and April 30.
