Police investigating after shooting of Jackson County deputy

JACKSON COUNTY, Ind. (May 8, 2014)– The Jackson County Sheriff’s Department is currently investigating a shooting involving one of their deputies.

WDRB in Louisville reports that authorities in the area say the shooting occurred at 7:25 p.m. on the 5800 block of State Road 39 in Tampico, Ind. WDRB was told the deputy was responding to a suspicious call of two males in the area.

The Jackson County Sheriff’s Department has taken the lead in this investigation and the Indiana State Police has limited units assisting.

Little information has been released at this time, and the deputy’s condition is not known.
