Police stop carjacking in progress on west side

INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. (May 11, 2014) — A police chase ended in a crash on the city’s west side, overnight Saturday. An officer tried to pull over a carjacked vehicle after someone called 911 about the car around 1 a.m.

When an officer saw the car near 16th Street and Goodlet, the chase began.

The driver hit the gas, leading cops on a short pursuit, before the suspect crashed near 18th Street & West Kessler Boulevard N. Drive.

An IMPD officer tells Fox59 four people jumped out of that car and ran, but police were able to catch three.

Those three were taken downtown for questioning. Police are still looking for the fourth person.

Police recovered stolen items and a gun at the scene.

No one was injured in the crash.
