Storms roll through central Indiana, some damage reported

INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. (may 11, 2014) – Storms rolling through central Indiana Sunday left hail, downed trees and power lines in their wake.

Reports of damage came in from Marion, Johnson, Morgan, Shelby and Hancock counties.

The Indianapolis Fire Department put out fires at two homes on the city’s east side after they were struck by lightning.

A large tree limb fell on two cars near Troy Avenue and Kentucky Avenue.

Traffic on I-65 northbound was hindered by high, standing water and power was out around the city when wind took down power lines and tree limbs.

Reports of hail from pea to quarter sized were reported around central Indiana.

Deputies in Rush County did report rotation, but no funnel cloud was ever spotted.

No injuries were reported due to the storms.
