ELWOOD, Ind. (May 18, 2014)  — SR37 south of Elwood is closed Saturday morning after a head-on crash involving a semi tractor with attached tanker trailer. It happened just after 4 AM.

Sheriff Ron Richardson says a car was traveling north on SR37, when it crossed the center line near the 9200 block and struck the semi. The car went off the roadway after the crash, landed on its top and caught on fire. The male driver was freed from the wreckage by first responders and transported via helicopter to an Indianapolis hospital. His condition is unknown.
