Man arrested, charged with murder in fatal north side shooting

INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. (May 23, 2014) – Police made an arrest in one of several shootings around Indianapolis this week.

On Friday, Indianapolis Metropolitan police announced the arrest of Mark Tyson, 31, in connection with the fatal shooting of Patrick Martin. He’s charged with murder and robbery and is currently in the Allen County Jail. IMPD said Tyson would be brought to Indianapolis at a later date.

Police said the motive was a drug robbery.

Martin, 24, was shot Monday around 11 p.m. in the 4000 block of Boulevard Place. He was visiting his friend’s house and did not live at the location.

Eight children under the age of ten were also inside the house, and at least one of those children witnessed the murder, police said.
