Excise police make 211 arrests during race weekend

SPEEDWAY, Ind. (May 25) — Indiana State Excise Police officers who worked around the Indianapolis Motor Speedway this weekend were kept busy by 211 arrests.

Offenders were charged with 250 different charges most of which were alcohol and drug-related offenses.

Excise police say most of the arrests were made on Saturday evening, during the Jason Aldean concert and on the streets near the track.

Arrests this year are up from last year’s 181 arrests on 214 charges, mostly for illegal possession or consumption.
