If you live in Indianapolis and rely on a weather radio for your hazardous weather alerts, you weren’t able to receive alerts yesterday or this morning.

But thanks to the quick actions of the National Weather Service and utility companies, the Indianapolis weather radio signal is back online and working.

The National Weather Service released a statement Monday stating that the “NWR Station KEC-74” signal from Indianapolis was not operational due to an accident that extensively damaged the communication infrastructure.  If you use a weather radio in Indianapolis, this was likely the signal that was programmed into your weather radio.

During the outage, people were asked to find a different way to stay informed of the latest weather hazards.  There may still be some minor interruptions to the signal as the National Weather Service finishes the repairs.
