Teen shooting suspect charged with attempted murder, stalking

INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. (June 9, 2014)– An Indianapolis teen accused in a shooting near Arsenal Tech High School has now been formally charged.

The Indianapolis Metropolitan Police Department says a 17-year-old female student showed up to the school on June 4 seeking help after being shot in the arm. IMPD said the suspect, 19-year-old William Alvies turned himself in later that afternoon.

Police said Alvies and the student were fighting in a nearby parking lot prior to the shooting. At some point the victim ran from the parking lot toward the school. The suspect chased the victim, stopped and fired several shots, striking the girl.

Alvies now faces charges for attempted murder, stalking, and carrying a handgun without a license.

Alvies’ trial date is set for August 11.
