DANVILLE, Ind. (June 10, 2014)—The superintendent of the Danville Community School Corporation was fired Monday night.

The school board voted 4-1 to terminate Dr. Denis Ward, whose last day will be June 30.

School board president Matt Baker cited “philosophical differences” and “communication breakdown over time” for the termination.

Assistant Superintendent Tom Johnson will serve as interim superintendent until a new one is elected.

Baker said the school board is pleased with the schools’ progress and says the district is one of the best in the state. They said they can’t wait to move forward with a fresh start.
