INDIANAPOLIS – Contractors for the Indiana Department of Transportation (INDOT) plan interstate lane restrictions near the south side I-65 and I-465 interchange early tomorrow (Thursday) morning.

From 3 a.m. to 6 a.m., crews will close the two right lanes of eastbound I-465 between I-65 (exit 53) and the Keystone Avenue overpass to move a crane.

Beginning at 12 a.m. (midnight), crews will close the two right lanes of southbound I-65 between I-465 and Southport Road for bridge deck repairs near mile marker 104. Restrictions are scheduled to end by 6 a.m.

This work is weather dependent and will be postponed in the event of inclement weather.

Walsh Construction Company, INDOT’s contractor for the $40 million Operation Indy Commute project, is currently constructing auxiliary lanes along I-65 to connect between the I-465 and Southport Road interchange ramps. Auxiliary lanes are also being constructed on I-465 between I-65 and Emerson Avenue. A new two-lane flyover ramp from westbound I-465 to southbound I-65 is being constructed to replace the existing single-lane loop ramp. Sherman Drive remains closed until approximately Sept. 1 as the bridge over I-465 is reconstructed and lengthened to accommodate widening I-465 below.
