Mother and father face charges after leaving boy, 6, in hot car

COLUMBUS, Ind. (July 7, 2014)– Two parents are facing charges after leaving their child in a car in the Kohl’s parking lot.

Shabbir and Fizza Fanne left their 6-year-old boy in a locked Volkwagen Jetta in the parking lot of Kohl’s. He was discovered at about 6:30 p.m. Saturday.

When police arrived they found the car running with the air conditioning on. The air conditioner was actually blowing warm air inside the car and the boy was covered in perspiration.

The parents have been charged with felony neglect of a dependent.

The Department of Child Protective Services originally took custody of the child.
