Police seek man charged with robbery, murder after July slaying of father of 3

UPDATE: Octavio Gonzalez was found guilty of murder on Nov. 15, 2016. He will sentenced on Dec. 22. 

INDIANAPOLIS (Aug. 5, 2014) – Indianapolis Metropolitan police are looking for a man following a July murder on the far east side.

Octavio Gonzalez, 24, is wanted in connection with the July 12, 2014, murder of 31-year-old Dexter Smith. Smith was shot to death in the 1800 block of Heather Court. Smith’s wife returned home in the morning to find him unresponsive.

Neighbors told FOX59 Smith is the father of three children. Detectives said an arrest warrant has been issued charging Gonzalez with murder and robbery.

Police aren’t sure of Gonzalez’s whereabouts but said he may have left for Atlanta.
